I have never written a letter of recommendation for a dental practice. I suppose that’s because it’s been my good fortune to have had only competent dentists over the course of my sixty-four years. So, while I never had cause to complain, I also never had cause to celebrate. Not, that is, until I encountered Khani Dental.

In December of 2025, I finally faced the fact that I was at a crossroads; it was time either to intervene in the slow-and-steady decline and disarray decades of entropy had unleashed on my teeth, or throw in the towel and get dentures. Dr. Arash Khani listened closely to my story, taking into careful consideration all the issues and concerns I expressed, including my general aversion to dental work, my lack of confidence in myself to maintain healthy teeth and gums, and my budget—I do not have the luxury of dental insurance. He subsequently presented me with likely scenarios if I were to choose either to continue ignoring the problem or to give up and replace all my natural teeth. He contrasted those options with a detailed treatment plan that could restore my smile. Thank goodness I chose to put my trust in him and his recommendations!

What initially drew me to this particular practice was its proximity to my home; it’s located across Banks Street from Timberlyne Shopping Center, three short blocks from my front door. But my happiness with the convenient location was quickly supplanted by my delight with the people who comprise the staff. It is they who have left the strongest impression, and I’d like to tell you a little about each of those who’ve worked with me.

First, there’s Joanna at the front desk. I can say without reservation I’ve never met a person who’s more kind and caring, warm and friendly, skilled and knowledgeable. Each and every time I walk through the front door she puts me at ease, and it’s clear I’m the most important person in the room. Whenever I have any question about the schedule, or my treatment plan, or my bill, she’s immediately on top of the matter and either answers straightaway, or gets me the answer after consulting others in the practice. Joanna is a gem!

Saylor is my Dental Hygienist. So far, only two of my visits have been with her, and—given the state of my gums—she’s had her work cut out for her! This has resulted in my having had less personal interaction with her compared to the others, but nonetheless it’s clear she’s exceptionally good at her job and as pleasant company as possible when one’s patient’s oral cavity is also a construction zone.

Cheryl is one of Dr. Khani’s Dental Assistants, and she is a truly extraordinary person. Over the course of 16 visits to restore my smile, we got to know each other far better than I can remember having known anyone in a similar role. At each new step in this long dental process—from a few minor extractions, to caps, to crowns, to implants, to a final whitening—I never ceased to be amazed at the depth and breadth of her knowledge of procedures, and her astonishing ability to balance the needs of the doctor getting things accomplished, with my need as a patient to be treated with compassionate kindness and, in my case, delicacy. She always seems to know, with pitch-perfect accuracy, when to squeeze my hand, offering a gentle word, when to suddenly distract my attention, and when the best remedy in the moment is to tell some wretchedly corny dad joke! I feel truly blessed to have her in my life. It sounds odd when I hear myself say it but, because of Cheryl, “I’m looking forward to my next trip to the dentist’s office!”

This leaves Dr. Arash Khani, himself. While demure and unassuming in manner, this gentleman’s life story is an inspiration. I suspect his humble origins and the difficulties he surmounted in reaching his present position play a major part in making him the easy-going and approachable person he is. As a professional, I’m unable to imagine how anyone could be more adept and well-rounded. He is a wizard at pain blocking—very high on my list! He has equipped his practice with the most modern and efficient devices available. It’s easy to see how he has taken the practice he inherited from Dr. Keith Taylor and turned it into the magnificent caring environment it is today. Oh! I almost forgot: like Cheryl, he has a fantastic sense of humor!

It is my fond hope that the Khani Dental practice will long outlast me, not only for the many people fortunate to be their patients, but because I know I could never find anyplace half as marvelous.

I’ve gone to this dentist office for about 20 years, seeing Dr. Taylor and then Dr. Khani. I look forward to going to the dentist to see everyone, especially Joanna and Cheryl since I’ve known them the longest. Cheryl has assisted with my Clear Correct, fillings and crowns and is very professional and caring. Angelique does a great job with my cleanings and helps me stay on top of my gum health. Visits with her are always calm and relaxing. Dr. Khani’s fillings are a work of art. My recent crown work with Dr. Khani and Cheryl was pleasant and painless. My son still drives from Raleigh for his visits with Donald. The staff are all great! Most of all, I’m really impressed with Dr. Khani’s expertise and work ethic. Highly recommend!

I have been coming to this dental office for thirty years. Dr Taylor took his time and carefully chose his successor, and Dr Khani is an amazingly skillful and kind dentist to take over the business. Dr. Khani is dedicated to showing each patient enormous care; he is really very concerned that his patients not feel any pain whatever. His team is wonderful: they are upbeat, talented, personable. Whether I am coming in for a regular check up or in need of a crown, they are so very helpful, all of them. I give them my highest recommendation.

I have been to many dentists in my life. I have been so pleased with Dr. Khani and all his staff. The office is welcoming, very clean and all staff are very knowledgeable and work well together. My insurance company was contacted and I knew prior to my procedure what my up front costs would be. My procedure was through, quick, and pain free. I feel very comfortable here and my whole family has recently switched to this practice. Thank you to all staff at Dr. Khani's office.

I love visiting Arash Khani’s office. I feel like I have known everyone there for years and they truly make you feel comfortable! They are very patient and thorough when it comes to addressing your specific concerns. I would highly recommend a visit!

Like many others, I'm terrified of the dentist, so I did my due diligence when it was time to find a new dentist. I was drawn to Dr. Khani's practice even though it was 16 miles from my home, and I couldn't be happier. The entire staff was extremely sweet, charismatic, and funny. I felt comfortable from the second I walked in to the second I walked out. I had a tooth extracted and prepared for an implant. Dr. Khani was gentle and made sure I was okay throughout the entire process, which didn't take long at all honestly. Cheryl was amazing and fulfilled my curiosity by explaining the science behind my procedure. I actually look forward to going back, which is a foreign feeling to me when it comes to dentist.
